Blog pet peeves
Procrastinating instead of working on my fucking thesis, I decided to blog hop a bit and see what’s moving in the blogsphere. Now, I don’t know if it’s because I’m in such a foul mood, or maybe we’re nearing a full moon, but I stumbled upon most of my blog pet peeves today—which, not surprisingly, irritated me more than usual.
PMS + thesis deadline = bitchy Trollop *LOL*
Here are some of the things that drive me insane when I blog hop:
PMS + thesis deadline = bitchy Trollop *LOL*
Here are some of the things that drive me insane when I blog hop:
- Long posts. Anything over six-eight paragraphs I won’t read, or will just skim over. There are exceptions of course, but it’s very hard to keep a post interesting when you ramble on for ever and ever.
- Book reviews that are as long (or even LONGER) than the book itself. Honestly, people, it’s a review not a rewrite of the book in your own words. A couple of paragraphs should suffice for a good book review IMO.
- When you click on comments, and out of the 50, 48 were written by the same person who wrote the post. That really confuses me and not sure why, but it really annoys me too LOL.
- Blogs with dark background and light font. I can’t read white on black, yellow on orange, or white on yellow. After the first paragraph I get frustrated and give up. My poor little eyes suffer every time I try this.
- Headers that have nothing to do with the theme of the blog. A dog smelling a flower and the blog is called “Double-Bended Chef” or something like that.
- Posts that aren’t justified. I think this is what bothers me the most as there is no excuse for it! Blogger justifies your posts for you. All you have to do is click on a little button.
- Pictures that aren’t centered and that are just there to be there; ones that don’t add anything to the post itself..

- People who won't space.
- People who won't bullet.
- People who use another blogger account when they post, confusing readers, just because they are too fucking lazy to log on into their own account!!!

Harlot, you know blogger wont let me space, its not that I wont do it, its that it wont let me! *grrr* Same thing with bulletin.
As for posting from other accounts, well, I dunno, I do it and don't notice and then too lazy to change it! At least I justify my SHORT posts! *hmmmphhh*

Oh, just admit you're lazy to space, bullet, italicize and freaking bold! And yes yes, some of my posts may be long, but they are interesting! (At least i hope they are. :/) And unlike your posts, mine are always ALWAYS pretty. And stop using our account for posting articles. You even use it when you comment! God knows what people think i've been saying when it's been you all along! *hmph*

I'd have to say a blog with little or no graphics, or worst, with horrible crappy graphics. I HATE those stupid generic templates blog offers. There are TONS of sites where people can get nice templates for free. Even plain graphics are fine. Just have something! I usually skip the blogs without a nice template. It just seems so bland and probably the posts will be as well.
Then again I am a layout whore and I'm sure that there are people out there who hate blogs like mine where the layout is always changing.
LOL.

I agree with Jolie. LOL
I would have to say, blogs who have those stuff about the weather or post about the weather. Unless it's going to rain fire or such like, those irritate me.

What I hate? I'll read an entire article and I'll find I want to comment and I'm greeted with "please insert username/password" before I can even say what I want to say. Whenever I see this I close the window. Why do bloggers do that? To keep track of their readership? I don't know if that bothers anyone else.

Interesting rant, but unsure why you felt the need to. Someone hit a wrong nerve? Oh. Yes. Women would bite your head right off and blame it all on PMS.

I don't like memes. It's ok in small doses but 5 or more and done consecutively... what the fuck.
Anonymous, I think I'm speaking for most women when I say unless you have an ovary, you have no say as to what PMS is.

I don't like memes too. Now this is a major pet peeve of mine, those who use text abbreviations in their posts! Drives me nuts!

Vanessa, I don't like that too. Spell check, spell check, spell check!

Disclaimer: Because enough people hate us already LOL, please take these with a grain of salt. We are not talking about you in particular. Even uber famous superbloggers/authors write posts about poop. :/
If this rant reminds you of snobbery, well, Trollop IS a snob (you don't want me to start with that!). You should know though, Blogger hates Trollop so much she can't space/bullet her posts (sometimes she can't upload pics!). There is also the fact that she would use our blog account to post her articles/comment because she's too lazy to log on into her own account. *grrr* (i.e. her previous post "Peek-A-Book")
Now, you know what i don't like? Those who thrive in [creating] gossip. Sorry, folks, but that disgusts me. (Call me a snob too, whatever.)
For the most part, if it's something that don't inspire me, make me laugh or have damn fabulous porn, i don't give a fiddling fuck about how other bloggers run their blog. Just don't fuck with me. *g*

I have the same pet peeve as Olly. I hate those crappy comment forms. I have very low tolerance for that sort of complication which makes it difficult when I really have something I want to say or share.

I don't have time to "blog hop" but I love this blog. I agree with Harlot. Suffice it to say, the creme will always rise to the top. Trollop, good luck with your thesis!

Crappy blogs that use up great titles. Sometimes I try to see what's out there by typing in (insert cool character name or line from movie/book here).blogspot.com. A surprising number of these come up as valid URLs -- but they're always by some dope who posted, "Well, I guess this thing works..." two years ago and then had nothing else to say.

Mine is the comment setting. I don't like it when someone screen their comments. You need to get approval before your comment gets published. I know there are good reasons why blogs screen comments but that really bothers me. I might as well not say anything at all.

Oh, I forgot one of my biggest pet-peeves: that letter recognition thingy HATE HATE HATE HATE IT.
I also hate bloggers that like to humilliate others, spread gossip and then, when they get it in return can't handle it. It's a two way mirror. Say what you want, hear back what you don't want.
Anyone else starting to feel ashamed to belong to the romance online community?
Harlot and I have actually been considering changing the name of our blog and leaving romance as a secondary part of our blog b/c of this.
I am disgusted and sad and would rather not be associated with some blogs/bloggers out there.
Sorry, had to vent about that. *sigh*

I don't know what Trollop is talking about in her 7:43 comment...but I hope it's just that the coffee hasn't kicked in yet because I love you guys!!! I hate that you took the title "Book Bitches" before I had a chance to think of it. I'm a wannabe Book Bitch!!! And I am so delighted to be even tangentially associated with you that I'm linking to this post in my Thursday Thirteen today...oops, that's a meme. Will I be ostracized??? It's the only meme I do and I NEVER do a Thursday Thirteen about not being able to think of something to do a Thursday Thirteen about.

Trollop, I never really thought this is a romance blog. Thank God that you are not. I'm glad you ladies cover other genres besides romance, and you talk about movies as well, which is always welcome.
I think I know what you are talking about, but I'm not entirely sure. I want to say though, romance blogs drama usually starts because someone creates gossip, attacks some author personally and then everybody feasts on it. You're right, disgusting is the word.

Trollop, what's going on?
I too am a little bit bothered by those who screen comments. I understand the point is to protect your blog and your readers from attacks but that's nothing an active blogger can't stop with a little moderating.
