A Trollop in Madrid

I arrived in Madrid early Tuesday morning after a mostly uneventful eight-hour flight. I slept pretty much all the way here since I had been heavily sedated by my parents LOL. No way was I getting on that plane sober. Well, maybe tied and gagged, but why go through all that trouble when popping some pills achieved the same thing? ;) The hour or so I was awake was pure torture though; the guy next to me had some serious stomach problems and farted his way across the Atlantic. Poor dude, he was so nice and helpful I felt bad about giving him the evil “you dirty pig” look. But boy, did I suffer! Then, there was the little girl who thought it a good idea to puke all over the place once the plane had landed. She was next to me in line so I pushed her away, and the mom had the gal to get mad at me! WTF? Lady, I am so not going to walk around Madrid drenched in your daughter’s vomit! Honestly...

I am living in housing thingy for students, mostly grad and doctorate ones. It’s pretty nice and big. I really like it. There’s this HUGE park right in front “Parque Oeste” and I have the biggest shopping street in the city “Via Princesa/La Gran Via” two blocks away from my dorm. Really tempting! This is the worst place you could have chosen for an obsessive shopper on a tight budget! LOL

There are things that I’m loving, some that I’m hating and a lot that are just odd LOL. Will share some:

HATING the cold. I am sitting in my room wearing a thick sweater and gloves!!! Everyone here thinks I’m crazy because, apparently, this is nothing for what’s to come. There are still people walking the streets in shorts and tanks, for crying out loud. Bunch of crazy fucks!

Loving the food! Which I shouldn’t since that could lead to serious weight gain, depression follows, and then suicide is imminent. So, NO MORE GOOD FOOD FOR ME!

I love the park right in front of my building. Though note to self: must run if weird psychos start following me again.

So many stores, so little money. I am being punished by the gods for spending so much money in my previous life (also known as the last couple of years LOL). I am NOT going to tell you how much credit card money I’ve spend in my life because I don’t want to scare myself again!!!!

People here are SOOOOOOO weird. Not only the clothes thing (for fucks sake, I think I lost a nipple to hypothermia on my way home last night, and there are some people walking around like they’re off to the beach or something!) but so many other stuff. Most everyone I’ve talked to is very rude and always in a rush. They wear really weird outfits too. I think a lot of people here stopped watching TV/buying mags some time during the late 80’s early 90’s. Or maybe there’s a 90210 fashion thing going on that I haven’t been told of. Either way, it’s like they all shop in their own personal store and not two people will be wearing even remotely similar things!

Okay, I’m so freaking cold I can’t even type anymore. And I have so much more to say! But I have to go for dinner and then I have to study. *groan*

Will resume my regular blogging schedule (whatever that is) this weekend.

Ta ta, till then. ;)

Trollop, glad you arrived there safely. Anyway, how cold can it be in Madrid? Sorry, I've never been there. :p

Isn't Madrid supposed to be like Paris, where fashion is an important factor in people's lives?

Trollop, glad you arrived there safely but no matter how "nice" the farting dude was, I'm sorry, if I were you, I would have complained!

80s fashion? Oh YUCK! 80s is probably THE worst decade for fashion. Spandex, legwarmers, acid washed jeans, big hair and horrible make up!!! WTF???

Hi Trollop, I don't blame you about the vomit. Yuk! I can't stand it, even if it's my own beloved children. You can hear me screaching..."run to the bathroom...I love you, but throw up in the bathroom please!"

So, can you snap some pics on your new cool digs and neighborhood?

Oh and I agree about the 80s fashion. Although I was one of those girls who wore the legwarmers and jackets and jeans with splashes of paint and I had one of those big hair too. Oh God, that's embarrassing! What was I thinking?!?!

Welcome to Spain, Trollop! Yeah, weather in Madrid is not as nice than in Barcelona :-P, but I love the city. Great, great night life! As for clothes... yes, there's a kind of 80's back... you'll have to survive it! I'm sure this will be one of the times of your life. Enjoy!

OMG Trollop, that was a nasty flight! Anyway, you should get new wardrobe to fit in with the 80s thing that's been going on in there! I guess legwarmers are important since you're cold. LOL

I wonder if that trend would get here in the US especially when you keep seeing starlets wearing leggings over skirts. LOL

Vanessa,

About leggings. They're very tricky LOL. It definitely draws attention to your ankles, calves and thighs. And if you're short, it cuts off the ankles unflatteringly (is that even a word?).

Anyway, now, have to say.. Last summer, i used to wear leggings, yep (Oh god, Trollop will kill me!!!) Well they're very comfortable! And easy to remove when they're, er, in need of fast removing. :P I think I wore a skirt over it once or twice and my ex said, "Wy are you wearing leggings under your skirt? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the skirt?" Hmp, i looked cute anyway!
